TIL that #
Firefox – for many months already – has builtin support for vertical tabs, the only sane layout in today's world of too-wide, too-short screens. My, what a refreshing experience.
Still, the tabs structure is “flat”, so I'll stick with Tree Style Tab extension for now in my main Firefox profile, but the solution that's builtin, simple and efficient is a really nice thing to have – I have switched two of my “special” profiles to the builtin.
Short instruction: enter
about:config
, search for
sidebar
and switch
sidebar.revamp
and
sidebar.verticalTabs
to true. Horizontal bar will disappear, and among buttons on the toolbar a new one will emerge, resembling
[| ]
. The button toggles sidebar visibility. Enjoy!
